Kid Fury and Lena Waithe Strike HBO Deal

Published on July 31, 2018

Well known comedian and podcaster of ‘The Read,’ Kid Fury has been reported to be developing a half hour comedic series with Lena Waithe for HBO, the network that has given us the popular Issa Rae hit series ‘Insecure.’

With no working title released, the HBO project is described as a dark comedy of main character Greg (who could be a younger Kid Fury whose birthname is Gregory Smith), a sarcastic gay black man in his twenties discovering the everyday life struggles as an adult in New York City while dealing with a personal issue many deal with today… depression.

Fury will serve as the writer and co-executive producer on the series along side Waithe. Also, executive producing the series will be Avalon Television’s Richard Allen-Turner, Chloe Pisello, David Martin and Jon Thoday.

Fury has captured our hearts through his podcast ‘The Read’ and Waithe too with her Emmy win for her work on ‘Master of None’ and Showtime drama ‘The Chi.’
